Trained as an economist, my focus is on farmers’ risk exposure and decision making under risk, in terms of risk management, plant protection and the use of pesticides. I am particularly interested in the interaction of agricultural and environmental policies, and the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices in Europe. My aim is to provide evidence for policymakers to develop agricultural policies that align policy goals with farmers’ settings. This includes farmers’ incentives for adoption of alternative practices and technologies, barriers for adoption, and risk exposure.
My studies and work initially took me to Germany and Switzerland, with fieldwork in Ethiopia and Pakistan. I am currently based in Germany. I feel that a bit of my heart is in each of those places.
I grew up in Bogota, Colombia. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, biking, and swimming. I love the outdoors.
